Why So Called “Dumb Blondes” Succeed in Business and Phd’s Fall on Their Face

First, let me say, I do not think people with blond hair are dumb, nor do I believe Phd’s should not be highly respected.  This is simply an observation I’ve seen working with various business owners.  A person, you wouldn’t expect, makes it to the top, while others, who are highly intelligent, struggle. Here are some of the reasons:

They  Allow Themselves to Be Teachable

A person, who thinks they know it all, usually doesn’t.  They may be book learned but lack street smarts, or common sense.  They do not allow themselves to be teachable.  The dumb blonde, follows directions and goes with the flow.  If a system is proven, they know that if they follow all the steps, they will succeed, and do, much to the chagrin of the person who thinks they are super smart.

They Are Accountable

A person who succeeds shows up.  They call when they are supposed to, and pick up the phone to talk to a mentor, whether they want to or not. They do not make excuses, procrastinate, or hide..  They do all the homework, whether it sounds hokey or not. Voila!  They reach their goal! Usually, simply showing up, will give a person an edge over another who doesn’t bother or shows up late.

They Overcome Obstacles

Life may give you lemons but a person who succeeds finds out how to make lemonade. Most successful people have overcome huge obstacles. Funny how that happens.  It is rare to find a person who is successful, who hasn’t gone through hell first.  That is why you see people who have good fortune handed to them on a silver platter, splashed on all the tabloids.  Their obstacles may have happened after the fact, but they happened just as well.

They Have a Goal or Passion

A person wallows because they do not have a clear picture of what they really want. They are confused why they are not reaching their goal.  Passion comes from emotion.  You cannot just state what your goal is, as in an affirmation or declaration, you have to feel it!  Most people reach their goals because they have a burning passion inside to achieve it. Find out what brings you bliss and do it.

They Allow Themselves to Receive

Have you often heard the expression, it’s better to give than receive? How can you give if you have nothing to offer?  Sometimes the only thing that is stopping you from being successful is not allowing yourself to receive support from others. A woman I know, who is a millionaire, once mentioned in a speech she was giving, that she did not see success until she allowed herself to receive help from others.  There are many in the world willing to give you a boost up, and are happy to lend their help.  Accept it and do not feel guilty about it.  You are worthy.
