I'm glad to hear you related to my post. I guess I'll have to watch my Valley-Girl voice. I go insane with certain noises and really have a hard time listening to videos with lip smacks.

I too suffer from this. It is pretty bad actually. It started around the same time for me too (around 9 years old). Dinner time was unbearable for me, and it wasn't uncommon for me to suddenly start shrieking at my family and burst into tears. They all naturally thought I had lost my mind and told me to cut it out. They wouldn't believe me when I said I couldn't help it. My dad is not allowed to eat chips when I am around. It isn't so bad if there is a lot of noise around, like a busy cafeteria, but sometimes I just have to get up and leave or I'm gonna loose it in front of people who have never seen me upset (I'm very chill, except for this). Some days are better than others and I can go along time without having an "attack". However, I do notice that it gets acutely worse when I am stressed. I wish it were only the eating to. Loud voices, "Valley-girl" speech patterns, and high heels drive me insane. I can't even count how many times I've had to abruptly stop what I was doing to get away!

I read this post and I instantly felt relieved. This is exactly me! Thanks!

Great idea, Rebecca. It seems inevitable that whenever I forget a writing instrument and a piece of paper as I am heading somewhere, I find myself searching for them to write down an idea or ensure I remember a phone number, etc after speaking to someone. We must always be prepared for the unexpected opportunity to land right in front of us.
