In a effort to merely survive, we often do not take into account various aspects of our life when we are setting goals and working on our business. However, it’s critically important to our ultimate happiness. Have you taken an assessment of how various aspects of your life will work into your plan? Here are a few areas you want to consider:
Financial – Obviously this is extremely important to most people. Are you creating a full time job for yourself, that would not continue to create income should something happen to you? Although many entrepreneurs own their own business, it is nothing more than a glorified JOB. Adding multiple income streams to sustain you when you are ill, or even on vacation, diversifies your “portfolio.”
Family – How does your business work when it comes to your family life? More and more entrepreneurs are choosing to work from home, in order to balance family and career, especially for women. Do you have systems in place to take care of work that can be delegated, such as house cleaning, baby sitting, errands, etc.?
Community – Are you connected to your local community and can you contribute to it in a positive way? Have you isolated yourself from human contact, as in the case of someone who markets primarily off the internet? Join networking organizations, Rotary, Kiwanis, or other service oriented groups. Connections that lead to business can come from anywhere. Even your local Cub Scout Troop.
Physical – Many times we are so focused on pursuing our dreams , we neglect our physical needs and health. As you schedule your day, make sure to include time for exercise. Fill the refrigerator with healthy food and snacks. Schedule regular checkups, or prevent disease via holistic and natural methods. Take a little time each day to meditate and have a massage every once in a while. Stress in any shape and form can be hazardous to your health. Nip it in the bud by keeping your mind and body healthy.
Spiritual – Connect with your higher power no matter what religion or non religion you are a part of. A daily walk to observe nature, for some, may be even more powerful than going to a church or synagogue.
Write down, without prejudging, what your ideal life would look, and feel like. Design your life to include every area of your life. If finances are tight, cut out things that are truly unnecessary to your vision and simplify.
Be happy. That’s what life is all about.
